Tales of a budding digital marketing specialist and wannabe graphic designer, continued.
Graphic design: an important part of a digital marketer’s toolbox.
As a lifelong student, the learning never stops — especially in an industry that’s changing every minute.
While it definitely is a challenge to be a master at everything, it helps to be aware of all the skills that may be required of a digital marketer, why it’s important, and how to do it.
To be honest, despite my many art projects in elementary school, I never really felt confident in my ability to be creative.
It turns…
I could not be any more thankful for these past three months working with Collectively Social and especially founder Safania Romas, my mentor. It’s been such a pleasure getting to know her and it is through this experience that I’ve learned so much about social media marketing and content creation.
Prior to this I had no real grasp of the new direction I wanted to take in my career — especially since my main background was in physical rehabilitation and healthcare.
As a digital marketing apprentice I gained a better insight on what a typical day in the life was…
As I continue my career transition into a new but no longer unfamiliar industry, I’ve come to realize how important it is to have a mentor to guide and steer you in the right direction.
It’s impossible to embark on your journey completely alone.
Here are reasons why — but first, let me share with you my story.
My story is a bit unique in that I came from a completely different industry. Throughout college I majored in B.S. Health Systems Management and was studying to become a physical therapist, while helping out with digital marketing as a side hobby.

Contrary to what you might think, this isn’t my first blog post.
It’s technically my sixth.
But I’m writing this post to share my experience in the hopes of encouraging you to write your own blog posts.
Honestly, it doesn’t have to be perfect. All that matters is that it comes from you.
We might not know where to start, or how to edit it so that it’s published perfectly.
But we should reframe how we think about it. If you have a great idea you’re thinking of sharing, you should go and share it.
You don't know how much…
Fall in love with the process of introducing yourself and meeting new people.
Introductions — it’s all about making that first impression.
I’ll admit I do get nervous when it comes to meeting new people, as I’m sure I’m not the only one.
So when I was given the opportunity to do my first “Instagram Takeover”, I couldn’t help but feel anxious.
An Instagram takeover is when you introduce yourself on another instagram account (usually through Stories) — for a short period of time.
While I do have my own Instagram that I post regularly on, I still found myself…
This past weekend I took part in my first community garage sale (still wearing masks and following social distancing guidelines, of course).
It’s something that I’ve always wanted to do since I was a kid — similar to a lemonade stand.
I was excited to sell my pre-loved items and had a great experience with my garage sale.
However, I think I’ll stick to mainly selling on Facebook Marketplace.
Here’s my experience with both and why.
Facebook Marketplace gives you the opportunity to list and sell your items through a post in a specific section of the Facebook app.
At first I didn’t know what to expect when I changed my career path and finally committed to my digital marketing career, but I knew that I was excited and ready to learn.
Here are ten things I learned so far as a budding digital marketing specialist, including my first month as a ~virtual~ digital marketing intern:
Throughout the age of the pandemic there’s no doubt that our lifestyles have changed drastically, and it’s become much more difficult to meet in person.
Just as video calls bring us close with family and friends around the world, it also helps us…
Instagram released its newest Reels feature this month in an effort to help us stay connected. This is important now more than ever — with many of us in quarantine, we’ve come to spend a lot of time at home this year while adapting to this “new normal”.
Although TikTok has been around longer, I believe Reels is perfect for both those who are eager to check it out and create content through it as well as those who have been hesitant to try out another new app.
I’ve seen my fair share of Instagram creatives using the platform to…
It’s that time of the year again. It’s 2020, and although many of us are inside our homes and following social distancing guidelines, a lot of high school seniors are faced with the all-too famous question: where do I go from here?
Looking back at my own senior year, I feel nostalgic: I remember all the memories I made with my friends and my teachers. As seniors we all realized that we were about to embark on our own separate journeys, and enter another chapter of our lives. How many of us would keep in touch?
Of course, that’s not…
